My dear friend Joe Popp needed some speaker stands for his home. Lazy Gretl to the rescue!

Always happy to help out a friend, I gathered some walnut we had in stock, and got to work. Joe provided me the measurements for his speaker boxes, and his being an audio engineer, we agreed a slight raking angle of about 5 degrees would be optimal for the size of his room.
I made the top of the small tables out of ~1.5″ thick, glued-up slabs, and the legs were made of walnut with in-lay splines made of hard maple. The tops were engraved with the design from one of Joe’s stickers (see his merch page and support this guy, he’s great!), filled with black epoxy, and the whole project was finished with a hard-wax oil from Osmo.
The tables look great with that lovely oiled-walnut warmth, depth, and richness that makes it one of the most beautiful materials available for many projects. These things are built to last, and Joe’s great-great-great-great grand babies will be figuring out what they were for back-in-the-day for generations to come.
Thanks for letting Lazy Gretl help warm your home, Joe! Love you, man!
